Week 9

Pictures like this make me feel really together. Meeting the needs of both boys simultaneously.

Look at that 9 week old. Such a serious face.

Kale and the Camera

Here are some pictures of Kale and some pictures Kale took around the house on he and Umpas matching day.

Happy Birthday Gordon (324 months) & George (2 months)

We had quite the party on 9 9 9 for Gordon turning 27 (2+7=9 and a multiple of 9). George stayed awake for the whole party which was the longest he had ever stayed awake.

On the Road and the Arrival

On the road on the road on the road -

This picture captures it all - George requesting milk and Kale bouncing in his carseat wanting us to get back on the road. We actually chose to sleep 1 1/2 hours from Eureka because we couldn't stand to load everyone back up into the car after dinner.

As we were finishing the drive we spotted a herd of elk bathing in Stone Lagoon. I have never seen them out in the water before. Beautiful.

Georgie hanging out with Umpa Larry.

Kale checking out the fountain in Eureka and enjoying some time not in the car.

Happy diaper changes with Grandma Kitch.

8 Weeks

Writing from the other side of the tunnel. After all of the business of our last week in Vancouver before the big trip we are now on our way. Here are pictures from our first stop in Bellingham with Grandma Lene and Grandpa Steve.

Week 7

George is 7 weeks now and we had our final Midwife visit today. Pretty routine visit. We weighed and measured George and I got a pap smear.

George weighed in at 15lbs 13.5oz and 56 cm (22 inches) in length.

We have had a busy week around here with bouncy castle palaces and a trip to the PNE.

Week 6

This has been our adventure week. Sunday morning we woke both boys really early and rushed out of the house to make the 8 AM ferry to Victoria. Cousin Elena had flown north to visit Uncle Conrad and Aunt Lisa so we thought we could make the short 3 hr journey for a quick visit.

My three boys showing off on the ferry.

Kale was playing outside Conrad and Lisa's condo building when he ran up to us and told us he had been stung by a bee. He wasn't crying or upset but said his hand hurt. I searched for a bite mark but couldn't see anything. I told him the bee probably just bumped into him and sent him off to play. 20 minutes later as we are getting out of the car he tells us his hand still hurts. I take a second look and there is the bite mark and his hand has started swelling around the bite. I felt a bit guilty that we hadn't realized he had actually been stung/bit.

Here are the boys recovering from a bum change and a bee sting respectively.

From there we headed out to the Classic Car Show in Victoria. Here are Elena and Kale (and if you look closely the all important ice cream).

And there are Keva and George chatting with Lisa and Conrad.

After one overnight in Victoria we headed up island to Duncan and then over to a campground on the Cowichan River. For two nights we enjoyed this lovely river with a stellar swimming hole in the relative quiet of midweek. It went better than I could have imagined and both boys slept well in the tent. I think I actually had the most trouble sleeping because my thermarest got a hole and would lose its air halfway through the night.

George letting us get some stuff done around camp.

Kale peeing on the edge of the campsite .

Me getting a chance to swim on my own in the deep pool (probably around 12 feet).

Chilling on the shore while Mummy swims.

We were looking at a crayfish here. Kale was quite wary of its pinchers even though it was on the bottom of the river.

I love the forced smile that comes out when the camera comes out.

Week 5

The past week has been a calm one and we don't have a plethora of pictures.

Hey look! Real clothes. What a stylish young baby with one of his only new to him shirts (Thanks Auntie Kimber and family)!

Most of the time is still spent in only a onesie smooshed against mums chest fast fast asleep.

First Smiles

I have no pictures to back me up on this but George smiled his first real smiles today. We were sitting in the waiting room of a doctors office and he grinned at me. Hope we will continue to see these smiles in the future and maybe even catch one on camera.

Week 4

We had our 4 week visit with the midwives. George has jumped up to 13lbs 6oz - eeh gads. Aside from that we didn't really have anything to talk about and were out of there pretty quickly.

Being a big brother is hard work. Sometimes you have to sneak off and fall asleep in the baby swing.

Hanging out on the back yard swing is pretty good too.

Help - Mumma buried me in the clean diapers.

Now who is having more fun with the Gymini?

The chubby monkey with a curved neck.
