Video...
The video isn't very high quality (from the digital cam rather than the camcorder) but it should be entertaining. Especially for those of you who don't get to see Kale on a regular basis. Let me know if videos are a hit and I will include more of them.

Kale's favorite game..
Stealing Mommies glasses, even when Knuffle Bunny was provided as a distraction.
Knuffle Bunny is a cute blankie companion Great Aunt Daria and Great Uncle Larry brought back from Sweeden. We named him after Knuffle Bunny by Mo Willems. This is a fabulous picture book an old friend sent is recently.

Auntie Robyn...
Aunti Robyn and Uncle Ryan came to Vancouver for a quick visit and we had lots of fun walking in the cold almost snowy raina nd then played at home. Robyn was trying to teach Kale to make funny faces for the camera but his timing was a little off. I am sure he will get better at it with time.

So it was teething...
Now we have something to blame Kale's past fussiness on. Today his first tooth broke the skin. Auntie Robyn, Ryan, Keva and I were having lunch at EA when I happened to notice the tooth in Kale's mouth. I never expected the tooth to surprise me after a couple of days that were Kale's least fussy ever. He just wanted to feed all the time. I wonder if that is how I will recognize teething in the future. Now we are keeping our eyes out for tooth number two (they are supposed to come in pairs aren't they).

Midwives in Seattle
We went down to Seattle this weekend for Kristianne's graduation from Seattle Midwifery School. We were so proud of her we forgot the camera in the car (sigh) but it was amazing to see her walking and officially taking on her new title as Midwife. It was an emotional event for me - watching my previous classmates graduate and seeing many of my former teachers, preceptors and administrators. It forced me to think about all of my emotions about leaving school and whether or not (or when) I want to return. Once I made it through the emotions it was reassuring to realize I didn't have any regrets about not being in school and that I was really glad I wasn't trying to do school and mommying at the same time.
The next day we had lunch with some friends. Kale was particularily smiley for Jane.
That evening we had dinner with some more friends (Dan and Deanna) and Kale let someone else hold him while he is sleeping. This is quite unusual. Deanna must have the momma touch.

Visiting Victoria
Umpa and Grandma Kitch were in town last weekend and we didn't get out the camera once. Kale and I went and visited with them, and Conrad, in Victoria and as we were loading up the car to leave I realized I hadn't taken out the camera while there either. Luckily I was able to get this great picture of Kale with his Umpa.
This visit was the first time Kale was away from his Daddy and while a little stressful in concept we survived very well. Kale was a tinge extra fussy being out of his normal patterns but he had some smiles left and even hung out at the hotel without me for a few hours. (Probably more stressful for me than for him.)

Who needs a carseat?
Umpa buckled Kale into the front seat so that he could have a better view (only while we were sitting in the parking lot, I promise).

Kale's new highchair
All he's allowed to eat right now are the coasters.
Note the great sushi diaper wrap he's wearing (thanks Becky and Jason!)
